"Igneous Rock"
Patriot News | George Weigel
There's a several year waiting list to be one of the 170 or so vendor's in the Philadelphia International Flower Show's Marketplace, but Robert Wertz, owner of Hampden Township's Igneous Rock Gallery was extended a special invitation into this year's lineup. ..
It’s tucked away, this new showroom – just off the Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg, behind a camera shop. But, oh, the treasures inside…slabs of basalt, large and small, in every shade imaginable, from eggplant purple to salmon pink, champagne yellow to deep rust. Yet it is the water features Robert Wertz, proprietor of Igneous Rock Gallery, crafts of this material that truly stun.

"Water Work"
Central Penn Business Journal| Jim Ryan
Robert Wertz was sitting in his parked truck on Second Street in Harrisburg one evening when a police car pulled up alongside him. He thought he was in trouble. Turns out, the officer just wanted to stop and take a closer look at the lava rock water fountain in the back of the pickup.
If you missed the debut of these spectacular sculptures and water columns at the PA Home Builders Show or the PA Garden Expo, there's still time to accent your outdoors with a one-of-a-kind work of art in basalt.
